Review: The Couple Challenge Books

At the beginning of our relationship, Björn came up with the idea to buy these two books: The Couple Challenge Book. We were mostly curious and asked ourselves: Will this feel forced, or will it actually be fun?

The Couple Challenge Book is an interactive book filled with activities and dates that you can do together with your partner. It’s a fun way to help couples grow closer through original, playful, and sometimes surprisingly personal dates.

You can choose from different dates to complete, and after finishing one, you take a photo as a memory of the experience.

Two editions have been released: The Couple Challenge Book and The Adventure Challenge: Couple Edition.

In this blog, we review both.

Part 1 – The Couple Challenge Book

The first book immediately felt right for us. The challenges are very varied: sometimes lighthearted and funny, sometimes creative, and sometimes a bit more in-depth. This variety keeps the book fun and prevents it from becoming boring.

Most of the dates are adventurous and humorous. Definitely not standard or predictable. Some challenges require a bit of courage and a willingness to act a little silly, but that’s something we both enjoy.

Each page contains two date ideas that are clearly and extensively explained. After completing a date, you take a photo of the activity and of the two of you together and place it in the book. Whether you’re looking for a short activity or something that takes more time, the estimated duration is always clearly stated.

Part 2 – The Adventure Challenge: Couple Edition

This version is a bit more elaborate, but still follows the same basic concept as the first book. The main differences are:

The dates are partly explained using pictograms. Each pictogram represents a certain type of date or activity, such as something that requires planning ahead, something to do at home or outdoors, or even something that might get a little messy.

Not all dates can be read right away — you have to scratch them open. This creates a fun surprise element for you and your partner.

The book also includes thoughtful questions and dilemmas to ask each other. And if you enjoy making cocktails, there are four cocktail recipes included. Perfect for organizing a cozy cocktail night together and tasting each other’s creations.

VERDICT

If you’re looking to do something fun, original, or a little out of the ordinary with your partner (instead of the usual standard dates), both of these books are definitely worth recommending.

That said, we personally feel that the first book offers more variety than the second. The dates in the second book felt a bit more predictable to us, with activities that were more similar to one another.

Still, both books are a lovely way to create memories together and bring a playful sense of adventure into your relationship.
